Overview
DemeritCheck is a stateless educational website. We are committed to protecting your privacy by not collecting personal information in the ordinary course of using the calculator. This policy describes our data posture in terms appropriate to the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What we do not collect or store
This calculator is stateless. We do not ask for, collect, or store:
- South African ID numbers
- Driver's licence or PrDP numbers
- Vehicle registration numbers
- Offence or infringement history tied to a person
- Accounts or login credentials (Phase 1)
Data you enter in the calculator stays in your browser for the current session only. We do not operate a lookup against RTIA, RTMC, or traffic-enforcement databases.Do not enter personal identifiers — they are not required to use the calculator.
Server-side processing
Phase 1 is a static website. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit offence selections or totals to a server for storage or processing.
Technical data
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) in server access logs. We do not use this information to identify individual users or link it to calculator inputs. Analytics tooling, if added before launch, will be documented here and configured in line with POPIA requirements.
Cookies
Phase 1 does not set cookies for calculator functionality or user accounts. If analytics or consent tooling is added before public launch, this section will be updated.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal information through the calculator, there is typically no personal data held by us to access, correct, or delete. If you contact us by email, we will handle that correspondence in line with POPIA and retain it only as long as needed to respond.
Third parties
This site is not affiliated with RTIA, RTMC, the Department of Transport, or any government body. Links to external sites (such as the Government Gazette) are provided for reference; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes
We may update this policy when site functionality changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
